Garrett as Paganini

Description

Yeah, it's David Garrett again and yeah, he has dark brown hair.
Tools: 2B pencil, Rembrandt Carbon pencil (a lot of that), printer paper, letter size as usual. Green crayon for the sketch. No tracing and no grids.

This portrait was inspired by a photo from the set of Bernard Rose's movie "Paganini, the devil's violinist". Guess who's playing the lead role...
I think that was a very bold move for Mr. Garrett. That film could make him a legend or hinder his career.
David's not only playing Paganini's role (that includes performing ALL the violin music), but he's in charge of the whole soundtrack. That means he's also writing new arrangements for Paganini's pieces. So...

Case I: he has some acting skills and the music appeals to the public (and critics, maybe). That movie is going to make him a legendary violinist.
Case II: he's a poor actor, but the music is good. We will have a not-so-good movie and a best seller score (and at least some eye candy here and there). Nothing will really change.
Case III: he's an awful actor and gets the arrangements wrong. His career as a classical musician will be seriously in trouble.
Obviously, I hope for case I, but case II seems more realistic. At least because he's too handsome for the role and critics will not pass over that. ^^;

We'll know soon enough, but from the trailer and previews I'm rather optimistic now. ;)

***...And then, comes that awkward moment when you realize that every MAN you're drawing has better eyelashes than yours...

I love this, and thank you.

Thank you, because I learned about this movie through you. I'm amazed at how I could not have known,
but now I do, and I will watch it!

Though I must admit I was lured in as I browsed for Paganini pictures, because - "why would someone draw him so handsome...?"
It's kind of alluring. ;)

Did you see the movie?
